2016 Conveyor Belt In Loop
Conveyor belt in Loop (2016) is an installation work consisting of a seven meter long sculpture of a
fully functioning conveyor belt. Powered by an electro motor, the conveyor belt rotates indefinitely
yet remains empty and is effectively useless for the purposes of any real manufacturing
applications.
The frame is constructed from 40mm angle iron, steel rods and rubber rollers. The belt, an offcut from construction material, is powered by a domestic electro motor along with a fan belt and gears.
While the work is principally a formal visual investigation, the sounds of the belt being drawn
across the floor and the rhythmic noises of the mechanical parts become an
integral part of the installation.
